HCSO stopped 18 year old Daishawn Jerome Godbolt around 10 am on Sunday after recognizing that he matched the description of a burglary suspect in car burglaries overnight on Saturday. He was found to not have a driver’s license and to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was also wearing clothing matching the suspect in the video of the burglary and in a similar vehicle as seen in the video.

After being transported to Hopkins County Jail, Godbolt admitted to HCSO Investigator Findley that he committed the burglaries. He led deputies to where the stolen property was located. He also admitted to filing the serial numbers off of stolen firearms.

Godbolt is charged with two counts of Theft of Firearm, Burglary of a Vehicle, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and No Valid License.

HCSO also made contact with 17 year old Rene Perea-Saldana regarding the thefts. He admitted to his role in the thefts and was taken into custody.

Perea-Saldana is charged with two counts of Theft of Firearm and one count of Burglary of Vehicles.
