From Sulphur Springs ISD:

Dear Hopkins County Veterans,
We would like to invite you to the Sulphur Springs High School 2020 Veterans Day celebration on Wednesday, November 11th. You may drive through at your convenience between the times of 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Due to COVID-19, this year’s celebration will look a bit different. To keep you safe, we have decided to celebrate you with, what we are calling, a reverse parade. You will drive through our campus to see and hear a version of our traditional program and be served a to-go lunch. The course of events is descried below, and a map is above.

To begin, you will enter the student parking lot between the Extension Office and Dairy Museum. You will drive towards the civic center and turn left at the Gazebo before the Civic Center. You will stop at the gazebo and check in with a student who will proved or place a service tag indicating your branch of service in your windshield. From there, you will follow
the driveway around to the civic center awning. Our Culinary Arts students will serve you a boxed lunch to be enjoyed in the safety of your home. You will then proceed to the next campus building where you will listen to service songs from our choir students. Continue to the high school awning via the bus lane, where you will be given letters of appreciation from our students. To conclude this event, we will honor those who did not return home through the POW/MIA table display at the end of the bus lane. From here, you will be directed to exit the high school campus via Gladys Alexander Lane to Houston street.

Though this program will not be long, we couldn’t let a Veterans Day pass without honoring our Hopkins County Veterans in some way. Though we will be limiting contact as much as possible to ensure maximum safety during
this time, our most sincere hope is to honor each of you. Please help us achieve this by filling out the postcard provided to you and mailing it back to us as soon as possible. Having this information will ensure that we have enough lunches and letters for everyone.
