Sulphur Springs ISD released the following statement in an email to staff regarding the extra security measures at Sulphur Springs High School today:

Over the last hour we have received many questions about our schools. SSISD schools are safe and operating normally. There have been no lock-downs, no early dismissals, and no incidents.

SSISD administration and the SSISD Police Department are aware of the vague and unsubstantiated threatening remarks that were directed at our high school earlier today. Though our investigation has determined they are not credible, we continue to hold the highest level of vigilance to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Safety is our absolute highest priority, and we take every matter such as these with the highest degree of seriousness.
