Four New Cases of COVID-19 in Hopkins County Reported on August 24th, 2020. County Unable to Confirm State Reported Deaths.

Hopkins County Emergency Management announced 4 new cases of COVID-19 in Hopkins County at 5 pm.

There are now 40 active cases in Hopkins County and 193 patients are listed as recovered.

Two patients are currently hospitalized in the COVID-19 unit at CHRISTUS Mother Frances-Sulphur Springs.
Hopkins County Emergency Management also announced that they will not be notified of COVID-19 related deaths by the state and won’t have the ability to confirm the deaths. 
Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) receives fatality figures from the Office of Vital Statistics and death certificate reporting and that will be the only reporting available regarding local COVID-19 related deaths. HCEM does not have access to those death certificates.
The DSHS COVID-19 dashboard currently lists four COVID-19 related deaths in Hopkins County.
139 total tests have been completed at the free COVID-19 testing at the Hopkins County Civic Center that’s ongoing through the week.
