In your battles, if you are not in alignment with the Covenant, you will mistake every “Good Opportunity” for a “God Opportunity.” In today’s scripture text David seems to miss the perfect opportunity to defeat is nemesis and finally take his rightful place as King of Israel. In spite of his allies and his emotions telling him that he should kill Saul, David passed up this this good opportunity in order to wait for a God opportunity. David was more concerned with staying under the covering of his covenant with God than he was with claiming the vengeance his flesh so desperately sought. He understood that even though Saul was trying to kill him that he was still God’s anointed leader and therefore David’s covering. By refusing to strike Saul down, David chose to allow the Lord to put him on the throne, this obedience kept him under the covering of his covenant because David allowed the covenant to make the decision for him.

The Covenant you’re in should act as a filter in every decision that you make. When you let it filter your words, you’ll stop rehearsing pains and start proclaiming promises. When you let it filter your decisions, you’ll make decisions based upon spiritual directives instead selfish desires. When you let it filter your responses, you’ll not allow emotions to seek good opportunities that ultimately oppose God opportunities. Do you feel trapped because of the poor emotional decisions you made in the past? If so, you can immediately begin reverse that trend by making convenient based decisions today. You enable God to bring you into your anointed place and destiny when you make covenant based decisions. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
