The mask requirement is in place until at least 30 days after the county drops to 20 active cases or less. Newsom said there are 21 active cases in the county currently.

The case total in Sulphur Springs is now up to 71, according to Newsom. This represents four new cases since the county announced the total at 67 on July 2nd.

The county is not aware of any COVID-19 deaths and is unsure why the state website is listing one death for Hopkins County on their tracking website, according to Emergency Management Coordinator Andy Endsley.
