Genesis 37:28
Then Midianite traders passed by. And they drew Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. They took Joseph to Egypt.
Many people, in the pursuit of their God-given dreams, fall victim to the frustrations and disappointments that come while on the journey that dream’s fulfillment. What most fail to understand is that, like an elevator, their road to the promise comes with different floors. Many times, it’s like getting on an elevator and pushing the button for penthouse, only to have the elevator go down instead of up. While the elevator may not immediately be going to the floor you’re looking for, you’ll get there if you just stay on it. This is what Joseph experienced. He had a dream that showed him be in a position of greatness. But, little did he know that the journey to that place would go in what seemed like the wrong direction for several years before it came to fruition. He would be sold into slavery by his brothers, falsely accused of rape, and thrown in prison and forgotten about before his dream could come to pass. As difficult as this journey was, everything that took place along the way was positioning him for the role would eventually stand in. His elevator seemed to go down for a very long time before it ever went up. What about you? Do you feel like you’re going in the complete opposite direction from what you should be in order to get to where you need to be? Like Joseph, if you’ll trust the Lord where you’re at, even if it feels like your further away from your dream coming to pass now than you ever have been, He will see to it that you get to where you’re supposed to be. Don’t quit, don’t walk away, stay connected to the Dream Giver and He will see to it that it comes to pass. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
