Governor Abbott held a press conference today to announce the loosening of some restrictions to begin reopening the Texas economy. A few of the highlights are below.

All Texas schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year. This includes public schools, private schools, and higher education campuses.

All stores in Texas will be able to operate retail-to-go beginning next Friday — one week from today. Customers may not enter the store but the retailer can offer curbside pick-up or delivery. Full guidance can be found at the link below:

State parks will reopen on Monday, but visitors need to wear masks and maintain a 6-foot distance from others. Groups will be limited to five people.

Effective April 22nd, current restrictions on surgery will be loosened. This will allow doctors to treat more medical conditions without getting an exception.

On April 27, Abbott will announce additional ways to reopen Texas in a “safe way.” More openings will be announced in May.
