Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Most people view today’s scripture reference as a promise, and they are correct in part. The only problem with that thinking is that there has to be a strategy in place to enable that promise come to pass in someone’s life. Any strategy, however, must be carried out one step at a time. The church is great about preaching on the strategy God, but has been horrible about putting the strategy into steps that make a system of successful Godly living. If strategy doesn’t start with a step and develop into a system, people will be left to die in their situations. You see, God didn’t just promise a Savior, He provided a strategy. The cross and the crucifixion was the strategy through which the Savior would bring His salvation to the world. Many a believer has lived a long and miserable life quoting Jeremiah 29:11 only to die without ever seeing it come to pass. Why? Because the promise is only obtained when someone knows the steps it takes to receive it. God will not force His promises on anyone, but they are provided freely through the covenant that we have with Him. So, the first step in receiving anything from the Lord is entering into that covenant by accepting Him as Savior and Lord. From that point on, by taking steps of faith, anyone is able to walk in each and every promise found in His Word. Your next step is to continually pursue a working relationship with Him, allowing Him to reveal Himself in a greater way each and every day. When God reveals a promise, or strategy to you, don’t forget ask Him what the first step in receiving that promise should be. One thing you can be sure of, His plan for you will always involve Him being in the very center of the amazing life He has planned for you. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff.
