The council entered a roughly 25 minute Executive Session to discuss Maxwell’s employment. After returning the council heard multiple statements of support for extending a contract to Maxwell from local business leaders and community members including Dr. Robert Lennington, realtor Tim Kelty, former council member Clay Walker, Northeast Texas Farmer’s Co-op President Brad Johnson, and David Niegarth.

The contract the council approved is for 5 years with a one year buyout and includes an annual performance review.
