Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31 year old Jeffery Marcus Sackett on Sunday night for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Communications advised officers that an assault with a knife had occurred at a residence on County Road 1136. While in route, communications advised Sackett had locked himself in the residence and would not come out. Officers arrived on scene and observed the victim with several lacerations to the hand and forearm. Sackett refused to comply with commands to exit the residence.

Additional deputies and DPS arrived on scene to assist. Sackett then came to the front door and lifted his hand in the air. He was then taken into custody.

Deputies learned the victim was Sackett’s step-father and they live together. They were advised that they step-father had requested several times that Sackett move out but Sackett refused. Sackett pulled a knife on the victim and attempted to stab him during their argument. The victim used a baseball bat to defend himself and struck Sackett several times.

Sackett is currently held at Hopkins County Jail on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Bond has not been set.
