Luke 10:25-26
25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?”

You don’t have to be a Christian, or go to church, for a great length of time before you realize that there are almost as many interpretations and viewpoints of the Bible as there are people who read it. This can be confusing when you understand that God didn’t inspire those wrote it with different meanings and that He isn’t bi-polar or have a multiple personality disorder. Add the 2000 years of translation since the original manuscripts were authored and it can leave you wondering just how legitimate the Bible really is. Through all of this you can rest assured that God’s original intent and inspiration have not changed. The problem lies not in what was written, but how it is read. Jesus dealt with the same issue in His day. The religious hierarchy of the day had taken the Law that God had given to Moses and interpreted it to suit themselves at the expense of those under their authority. When approached by a member of the Sadducees, who was wanting to see if Jesus’ thinking fell in line with their’s, Jesus quickly turned it back on him by asking him not just what he read but how he read it. Like the legalistic leaders of Jesus’ day, many people today still read the Bible from the standpoint of justifying their actions and lifestyle rather than simply searching for the truth. When this happens, the Bible’s power is nullified because the power lies in the Truth contained within it’s pages. It’s that truth that makes you free according to John 8:32. Believing a lie or twisting the Word to suit your thinking or beliefs will only leave you void of the life changing revelation that the Holy Spirit wants to impart into your life. If you feel like the Word isn’t working for you, ask the Lord to help you look at it in a new a fresh light, even if that means you’ll have to change your way of thinking. Life changing revelation power is available when you allow the Holy Spirit to show you what the Word is saying. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
