Jeremiah 17:7-8
7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. 8 He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

The key to generosity is your relationship with the Lord. Today’s text gives the perfect illustration of what someone’s life can be like if they keep that relationship in check. If you’ve ever watched any National Geographic programming, you’ve more than likely seen a river that flows through a dry desert region. Near the river, the vegetation is lush and green, but as you get further away from the river the vegetation becomes less green and more scarce. Without the water that the river provides, the vegetation has no chance of survival. But, those trees and grasses that are near the river thrive, no matter how hot or dry the climate they dwell in becomes. In fact, the heat actually causes the plants root themselves deeper into the source of life giving water. Because of this, the plants survive and are even able to produce fruit and vegetation that provides for the needs of people and animals who live nearby. All of this is possible because the of tree’s relationship to the source of life. The same is true about you when you stay near the Lord and keep your relationship with Him strong. He will produce fruit in your that is vital to those in your sphere of influence. As He blesses you, you are able to be that same blessing to others. If you feel dry because the heat and pressure of life is draining you, start putting down roots deeper into you the Lord, who is your source. He will refresh and restore you. He will enable you to continue generously bearing the fruit that you were created produce. You will be made strong able to withstand the pressure and challenges of life when you place your trust in Him. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff.
