When you grasp the true concept and intent behind Godly generosity, you will come to place in your life where you’ll be asking God for more opportunities to give. The purpose behind giving, or as the Bible refers to it, sowing, is not just to help those who need something or are in lack, but to show the world how truly good God is through the generosity of His people. In fact, He wants the world to experience Him so badly that He’s willing to empower people with great wealth and resources in an effort to reach every person with His love. The breakdown occurs when people choose to keep for themselves what He intended for them to sow. Whether it be time, money, or talent, everything good thing in your life is meant to be given back. You give back to God by giving to those who need an encounter with His goodness and love. When the world sees those who claim to be God’s people being loving and generous, they begin to look at Him the same way. But when the opposite happens, the very people who need Him the most want nothing to do with Him. Your giving and generosity is needed far beyond the scope of simply keeping the church’s bills paid so you have somewhere comfortable to sit and be preached to. Godly generosity is what will cause the unbeliever to see and experience the goodness of God. ‘For God so loved the world that He…GAVE’. How are you going show those you live and work with everyday that God loves them and that their eternal wellbeing is His greatest concern?
