Memorial for 49th Armored Division in Downtown Sulphur Springs Destroyed in Act of Vandalism

The memorial for the 49th Armored Division at the Veterans Memorial in downtown Sulphur Springs was destroyed in an act of vandalism yesterday. Sulphur Springs Police Department identified and located the juvenile suspect shortly after the incident.

The juvenile is in custody and the case will be referred to juvenile justice authorities. They are facing a charge of Criminal Mischief of a Public Monument, a state jail felony.
