Sulphur Springs Police Department Arrests 41 Year Old Sulphur Springs Man for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Sulphur Springs Police Department arrested 41 year old James Brandon Cockrell of Sulphur Springs for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance yesterday.

Officers responded to an active disturbance on East Industrial Drive around 9 pm last night. The complainant advised officers that Cockrell had run their vehicle off the road and rammed their vehicle at the 1100 block of East Industrial Drive and then allegedly continued to chase after them.

Cockrell was quickly located a few blocks away on Whitworth Street and arrested for the aggravated assault charge. During the intake search by jail staff, approximately 1.7 grams of methamphetamine was located in Cockrell’s pants pocket.

He is currently held at Hopkins County Jail on bonds totaling $75,000.
