Genesis 3:12-13
12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13  Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

From the beginning, literally, people have made it a common practice to avoid responsibility. You hear it all the time when people find themselves in a bad place or get caught in sin, they shift the blame to others for decisions that they’ve made. People will blame God, the devil, their parents, a spouse (or ex spouse), a pastor, even their kids for the mess that they’re in or for a moral or ethical failure. No matter how privileged or under privileged you are or may have been in life, no one is afforded a perfect life on this earth. At some point, in order to get to a place of healing and redemption you must take responsibility and hold yourself accountable for the decisions you’ve made along the way that have led you to the place you are now. You can’t be forgiven for something you refuse to admit to and until you own up to a shortcoming repentance will not occur. It’s time to stop letting pride keep you from seeing the dreams and purposes God has for you come to pass. If you’re in a bad place right now, take the time to look at any past choices that may have brought you there. Doing so will allow you to keep from making the same decision again thereby repeat the cycle. God is not punishing you for your past, you simply haven’t let go of it through repentance yet. The sooner you take responsibility for your actions the sooner God can put you back on the pathway to your dreams. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
