Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 28th at 3pm at the Sulphur Springs Church of Nazarene on 1300 S. League Street for Mrs. Vonie Thompson, 82 of Winnsboro. Formal visitation will be held Tuesday night August 27th from 6-8pm at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs.
Vonie was born April 21, 1937 in Mississippi to Melvin and Ethel Buffington-Varner. She married the love of her life Claude Thompson January 8th , 1955. Vonie raised six children and worked beside her husband in the church. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and cooking. She loved Jesus and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. Vonie went to be with the Lord on August 24th, 2019.
Vonie is survived by her husband Claude of Winnsboro, daughter Dolly Zehner and husband Chip of Peyton, Colorado, Deborah Swafford of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Donna Sutherland and husband Chris of Texarkana, Texas , Danise Randall and husband David of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Deanna Belmonte and husband Edwin of Fate, Texas, and son Danny Thompson and wife Chelly of Van Cleave , Mississippi. Vonie was the proud grandparent of 13 grandchildren and 11 great grand children.
