Daily Devotional from The Way Bible Church for August 13th, 2019

Most people read today’s verse and, unless they’re a parent or have young children, feel that it doesn’t apply to them. Nothing could be further from the truth. While this verse can be held onto as a promise to parents, no one should come to the place where they feel like they are past the point of growing in the ways of the Lord. You are referred to as a child of God, never once does the Bible call you a brother or sister of God, or even adult children. In fact, all through out John’s epistles, he addresses those he’s writing to as ‘little children’. The point is this…in the same manner that you would train a child, through repetition in an atmosphere of Godliness in your home, God is working on you. He wants you to continue in the righteous acts that He did while He was was here on the earth. He never intends to stop investing in you or providing you with an atmosphere of love and safety in which you can flourish. Take the promise in today’s text and receive it for yourself. Thank Him for His constant involvement and equipping in your life. The more you allow Him to continue growing you spiritually, the less likely you’ll be to depart from it. You have a good, gracious, patient, and loving Father who wants to see you reach the fullness of all you were meant to be as His child. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
