Private graveside service for William R. “Billy” Dowdy, age 77, of Brashear will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at McLane Family Cemetery with Military honors by The Hopkins County Military Coalition. Public visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Billy passed away on, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Dallas. He was born August 30, 1941, in Sulphur Springs the son of D B Dowdy and Ruby Ilene Yankey Dowdy. Billy served in the US Army, was a Parts Dealer for various Farm Implement Companies, and was of the Baptist faith. He married his wife, Margaret on January 18, 1986 in Brashear, she survives. Other survivors include, sons, Tracy McLane and wife Debra of Brashear, John McLane and wife Mitzi of Brashear, Chad Dowdy and wife Tonya of Mineral Wells, daughter April Dowdy Hackney and husband Wade of Greenville, sister, Jane Manning of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Ashlee Collins and husband Chris, Brandie English and husband Colten, Kristen McLane and Fiance’ Mark Andrews, Lindsey Greenway and husband Chase, Ethan Hackney, April Hepner and wife Stephanie, Taylor Hepner, Kenny Hepner, Charlotte Hackney, Cohen Greenway, Chase Dowdy and wife Amanda, Amber Knowles and husband Levi, and Noah Dowdy, great-grandchildren, Haydn McLane, Branson Ansly Ashlyn Collins, River English, and Georgia English.
