Luke 3:16
John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Have you ever thought about the purpose of fire? Not in the broad sense, but it’s ground level, simple purpose. Fire at it’s very core is an agent of change. Anything that has been set on fire isn’t the same as it was before. When fire is applied to metal, it is brought to place of malleability so it can be shaped and formed. It’s not hard to recognize a field, forest, or structure that’s been of fire because the change is immediate and evident. When the Lord tells you in His Word that He wants to baptize you with fire it means that He wants to see change take place in your life. He wants to burn up those things that don’t belong and reshape you into the image that He had always envisioned. So many believers say that they want to experience the fire of God when what they’re really meaning is that they want to see God do the miraculous without it really requiring them to become something new or different from them. What about you? Are you wanting to be a witness to the fire or are you serious about allowing Him to come in and do something that will cause you to walk away differently. A change that others will take notice of and open the door to conversations about who He is in your life. If you’re not ready, or have reservations, be honest with Him about it. He already knows your heart and is more than willing to calm your fears if you’ll allow Him to. He knows the you that will come out on the other side and is waiting patiently for you to let Him take you there. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

TWBC’s August Simple Saturday is right around the corner. We will be out in our communities being the hands and feet of Jesus. So make plans to be a part. Sign up at the GroupLife wall or find a member of our start team and they will assist you. You can also call the TWBC office for more information and get signed up over the phone. Let’s go out and show our neighbors the love of Christ.
