Joe A. Worsham passed away peacefully at Sunny Springs Nursing & Rehab on July 12, 2019 around 8:30 PM. Joe was the son of Dr. A.B. Worsham and Betty Anderson Worsham and was born October 20, 1928, in Corsicana, Texas.  Joe spent his very early years in Dawson, Texas, but moved to Sulphur Springs with the family when he was a young boy.  Joe grew up on the family farm in Martin Springs.

After graduating high school, Joe married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Bobbie Jean Miller Worsham, on July 14, 1948. Joe and Bobbie were married for over 70 years until her death on February 20, 2019.  Joe and Bobbie made their home and raised a family on a 60-acre farm in the Martin Springs community.

Joe Worsham was a great loving and devoted husband to his soulmate/wife and a wonderful father to his two children.  He loved to spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren and later his great-grandchildren.  Joe played a large part in teaching his entire family about all aspects of life and was a first-class example of how to be a good man, a good person, and how a man should take care of his family.

Joe started his career at Bonner Wholesale Hardware Company and retired from Specialty Foods Corporation (Southland Corp.).  Joe was also a farmer/rancher and wood craftsman.

Joe was a longtime member of Martin Springs Baptist Church, and he was a devoted Christian and servant of the Lord.  Joe spent many hours preparing his Sunday school lesson that he taught and enjoyed for many years.  There is no way to know how many hundreds of hours that Joe spent at the church, fixing, mowing, and other tasks that were always needed.

Joe A. Worsham is survived by two sons, Don A. Worsham and wife, Carol Ann Worsham, of Sulphur Springs and David J. Worsham and wife, Patricia Worsham, of Whitehouse.  He is also survived by his grandchildren:  Kristi Ann Corbitt and husband, Dr. Christian Corbitt; Lori Worsham and fiancé, Jordan Vetitoe; Bradley Worsham and wife, Reagan Worsham; Brian Goldwater; Clint Goldwater and wife, Felicia.  Joe leaves behind three great-grandchildren:  Jack Corbitt, Mick Corbitt, and Kathryn Goldwater.  He is predeceased in death by his parents and two brothers, A.B. Worsham and Laird Worsham, and one sister, Alene Worsham Lewis.  Joe was referred to by the many nieces and nephews as “Uncle Joe.”

Services for Joe A.Worsham will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with visitation at 1:00 PM.  Graveside services will follow.  The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at Christus Mother Frances Hospital, Sunny Springs Nursing & Rehab, Traditions Hospice and especially Dr. Ichabod Balkcom for his patience and years of quality health care that he gave to Joe.

There is no way to know how many lives that Joe touched in his lifetime.  He was a mentor and friend to many.

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home
