The Sulphur Springs City Council approved a November 5th special election for a bond that would fund the construction of a new Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Center and the renovation of Pacific Park. The motion was unanimously approved at tonight’s council meeting.

The bond arrangement is the same as the bond that funded the construction of Coleman Park. In technical terms, the city will take money from the Economic Development Corporation(EDC) and use it to fund the projects. It will be a 3 million dollar bond that will cost $200,000 per year for 20 years.

The construction of the senior center and Pacific Park renovation will each receive 1.5 million from the bond. The city will also be using a $500,000 Texas Parks and Wildlife grant for the Pacific Park renovation. The total cost of the park construction will be $2 million.
