JoAnn McGarity Sheaffer, age 66, of Sulphur Springs, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston, TX. She was born on October 5, 1952 in Sulphur Springs, TX, the daughter of John Franklin and Virginia Sue Waggoner McGarity.She spent years collecting and growing a variety of irises, her favorite flower. She was a talented cross stitcher. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. JoAnn married William Bill Sheaffer in 1971, in Sulphur Springs, TX. He preceded her in death in April 2019.She is survived by daughters, Jennifer Yarbrough and husband Ron of Round Rock, TX, Jamee Mars and husband Michael of Talco, TX, grandchildren, Kristopher, Abigail, and Zakkary Yarbrough, and LeighAnn Mars, brothers, Jeffrey McGarity of Cumby, TX, John McGarity and wife Brandy of Greenwood, SC, Michael McGarity and wife Stephanie of Rogersville, MO, and sisters, Theresa Melton and husband Randy of Dike, TX, and Susan Burns of Sulphur Springs. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brothers, Phillip McGarity. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
