Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.
having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints
Have you ever wondered how you could have read a particular passage of scripture many times over but never really knew it? You may even have committed it to memory for for several years thinking that you had grasped its full meaning when all at once it seems like a switch was flipped and you receive a whole new revelation of it. What you experienced was the Holy Spirit enlightening your spirit to a fuller revelation of that text’s true meaning. Today’s scripture passages help explain the difference in simple mental knowledge and true spiritual revelation or enlightenment. At the fall of man, when Adam and Eve partook of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they experienced an awakening to the physical while their spiritual eyes were darkened. They removed themselves from fellowship with God to a place were they could only know about Him. But, after Jesus came and bridged that gap, the Holy Spirit was once again able to enlighten and bring revelation of who God is back to His people. Not only does He enlighten you to who He is but to who you are in Him. You are once again able to get His most intimate thoughts and perspectives about you and anything you may be dealing with. Whether you need a fuller revelation of His written Word or simply need His wisdom on something you’re currently walking through, the Holy Spirit is ready to shed His light and open your spiritual eyes to the promises that the Father has for you. You don’t have to remain ‘in the dark’ about anything. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
