The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward.
When you make a decision to move forward with what the Lord has for you it will require you to separate yourself from what used to define you. Even those people and things that you may feel are there for your encouragement and comfort. Just like with Abram and Lot, there was a destiny that God could not reveal to Abram until Lot was out of the picture. This is not to say that Lot was evil or had bad intentions, but the plan God had for Abram did not include him. This didn’t mean that Abram had to sever all ties with Lot or disown him, it just meant that Lot simply was not a part of the bigger picture. Have you ever been in a situation where you needed a private conversation with someone but there was another person in the room that didn’t need to be let in on the what was being shared? This was what God was dealing with in Abram. He didn’t want Lot’s influence or input on what He had for Abram. He wanted Abram to only hear from Him. As today’s text show’s, after Abram had separated from Lot, God began speaking. What can God not say to you, that he wants to reveal to you, because he can’t say it in the presence of Lot? Are you allowing too many voices into the conversation that God wants to have with you alone? He will not compete for your attention. Before you come to the conclusion that God has nothing more to say, make sure that you are giving Him the courtesy of having an audience of one…you.- Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
