Funeral services for John Dawson Hadley, age 98, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at  2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 with Rev. Jim Moore  and Rev. C. J. Duffy officiating.  There will be no formal visitation.  John passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs.  John was born on January 1, 1921 in Venus, TX, the son of John Simeon Hadley and Mary Beatrice Poteet Handley.  He married Dorothy Clara Gary on August 11, 1945 in Dallas, TX and she preceded him on April 1, 2010.  John served in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post #642.  He worked in the laundry and dry cleaning industry for over 20 years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church.  John is survived by nieces, Belyndia Fisher of Houston, TX, Michelle Roof of Friendswood, TX, nephew, Shawn Nethery of Midland, TX, brother-in-law, Larry Gary of Terrell, TX and his dauhgters, Wendy and Lari.  In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, sister’s Inez Burton, Irene Woodall and Willie Pearl McNeely and brother, Joe Hadley.  Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
