Genesis 2:10
A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers.
Whether you realize it or not, the settings and events recorded in the Old Testament are there as foreshadowings and examples of what the Lord has in store for His church in the New Testament. Today’s text is one of those examples. God has created every person in His image but given each one different aspects of that image. These aspects are what are commonly known as talents or giftings. Just as the river that flowed from Eden became other rivers each having different attributes and benefits, when you allow the Holy Spirit to pour Himself into you, He flows out of you as various gifts and talents that He then uses to reveal Himself to others. Maybe you have a gift of encouragement. When you allow Him to fill you, He will overflow out of you and into the lives of people in the form of encouragement. The same is true with joy or peace. He wants to flow through you practically as well. Maybe you enjoy, and therefore are good at, cooking or doing yard work. He will grace and empower you to use those things to bless others who may be in need of a meal or are physically unable to handle the upkeep of their home. Whatever it is that makes you you, when you allow the Holy Spirit to flow through you He can change someone’s world with you. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
