Daily Devotional from The Way Bible Church for May 30th, 2019
Thursday, May 30th
Luke 15:30-32
30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’ 31 And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32 It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’”
There are as many reasons as there are people who give them when it comes to those who have fallen out of fellowship with the Lord and the church. Whether they have been enticed and tempted away or have been hurt or neglected, there is a steadily increasing number of people who are no longer associate with the family of God. As a believer you must understand that the reason why they left is not as important as fact that they need to be rescued and restored. If you saw someone in the water drowning, hopefully you wouldn’t watch them struggle as you asked how they ended up in the water. Rather, you would throw them a lifeline or flotation device in an effort to get them to a safe place. So many times those in the church look at those who have left and want to judge their decisions before attempting to restore them to fellowship. Whether what caused them to leave in the first place seems valid to you or not it obviously was to them. The Father’s heart of love has not changed toward them and He has every intention of restoring them. You have the opportunity to be involved with their rescue or pushing them closer to their demise. The choice is your’s. You know where the Lord stands. Will you align yourself with Him or will you allow them to drift further and further away? – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
