Luke 10:5-7
5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house.
As you seek to reach out to those around you with the love of Jesus, you will undoubtedly get a variety of different responses. Some will receive the message you bring with joy and an open heart, while others may be, let’s just say, a little less receptive. No matter how the other party responds, you must remain obedient to what the Holy Spirit is instructing you to do. It’s easy to be loving to those who respond positively, but when someone slams the door in your face or begins going off on a tangent about how much they hate God and Christianity, your response must still be in a loving manner. Notice that Jesus instructed the disciples to remain in the persons home regardless of whether they were received peacefully or not. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you pester and aggravate them until they make some sort of decision. What it does mean is that you remain Christlike toward them by being loving and available. The peace of God that you carry will leave an impact on their life that will eventually open the door for the Lord to move in their life. You are a vessel carrying the peace of God, something that the world in is desperate need of today. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
