1 John 4:17
By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.
Makings disciple of Jesus is the mandate the Lord has placed upon His Church. Thus, it should your goal as a believer to be about helping others become everything that the Lord has called them to be. This means so much more and goes so much deeper than simply learning to act like Jesus did. Anyone can act a certain way for a period of time, Hollywood has shown us that. Unfortunately the church today does a lot of acting like Jesus but not truly being Jesus. Believers go around being friendly, but not truly loving. Courteous rather than caring. Kind as opposed to genuine. Truly being a disciple means allowing His love to perfect you to the point that you move past behaving like Him and you begin to identify yourself in Him. When situations present themselves to you, you shouldn’t have to ask yourself, ‘What would Jesus do?’. Rather, the love that He has birthed on the inside of you should respond in the same way the He would. In Acts 4:13, the apostles were recognized as, ‘those who had been with Jesus’, because they walked in the same manner of love that He did. They weren’t acting like Jesus, they were being Jesus. They carried the same compassion and power that He did…and they changed the world. That’s your standard. Is your behavior not effecting the lives of those around you? Or is the Jesus you choose to be touching the hearts of the hurting and lost? – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
