Matthew 28:16
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.

Today’s scripture reference is one those verses that is usually read over as simply being there to provide a setting for an event. If you’re not paying close attention, you will read right over it and not see the profound point that it makes. Suppose a few or all of the 11 remaining disciples chose to stay home that day. Would the Gospel that Christians now base the entirety of their life and faith on even exist? What would life be like had the Great Commission never gone forth? Simple obedience is something that is lacking in the lives of many Christians today. Just like it doesn’t seem to be a big deal that they showed up for the meeting that day, that encounter with Jesus revolutionized their lives and Christianity as a whole. Now take a closer look at your life. When you miss an opportunity to spend time in His presence through the reading the Word and prayer or when you neglect to make sure that you and your family are regularly in a worship service, what are you missing out on? What seems to be minor details of a Christian life may be causing you to miss out on a life changing encounter with the Lord. He has the plans for your life and He His wanting to reveal them to you. Failing to walk in simple obedience can lead to failing to see the plans of God come to fruition in your life.
