Jay Sanders Resigns as Sulphur Springs Public Safety Director Amid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Investigation

Sulphur Springs Public Safety Director Jay Sanders resigned from his position Friday after being placed on administrative leave due to an ongoing investigation by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Captain Jason Ricketson is serving as interim chief of police and Tim Vaughn is serving as the interim fire chief.

Jay Sanders was promoted from Sulphur Springs Police Chief to Director of Public Safety in November of 2017. Sanders was placed on on paid administrative leave in March due to “his being involved in an ongoing criminal investigation by another agency.” according to the City of Sulphur Springs.

Texas Commission on Law Enforcement hasn’t provided further information due to this being an ongoing investigation.
