John 2:6-7

6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.

In the Jewish culture, it was customary for a host to place wash jars at the entrance of an event so that their guests could wash and refresh themselves upon arrival.  All of the dust and grit from the journey that had attached itself to them could be removed so that the guests could be comfortable and enjoy the meal and festivities.  So, you can imagine how quickly the water in those jars would become dirty.  The stone jars that held the water are symbolic of the hearts of people.  The issues and trials of life can quickly build up inside of you if you are not careful to change out your water.  In the Bible, water is often used to symbolize prayer which is vital in your life because it’s in those times that the Holy Spirit can remove the hurts and pains that you may have picked up throughout the course of a day.  As you pray, the Lord can speak life into you to refresh and purify your heart.  Through consistent prayer, you can remain a clean and pure vessel is able to help refresh and wash others as well.  Ask the the Holy Spirit to cleanse you through the time you spend in prayer with Him today. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
