1 Samuel 16:13
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward.
Believers live for moments like the one recorded about David in today’s text. Those moments when the Spirit of God seems to put a spotlight on you and you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He has spoken. But, for every anointed moment, there’s a journey and a plan that must be walked out in order to see that anointing used in it’s ultimate capacity. If you were to continue reading, you would discover that David didn’t immediately pack his bags and follow Samuel back to the palace. In fact, the next place you’ll find David is back in the pasture, tending the sheep. The journey that followed equipped David to be king as much as the anointing ceremony did. While the anointing set him apart, the journey prepared him to lead. You see, the same anointing that would eventually enable David to rule as king, is actually what empowered him to get to the palace. If you’ll begin to operate in the anointing while you’re in the pasture, He will use what you learn along the way to equip you to stand in the palace. Allow the difficulties of the journey to teach you to draw on the anointing, not keep you from it. He will honor your faithfulness by promoting you from the pasture, to the palace, to the promise! – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
