John 1:6-8

5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

One of the most fundamental but most quickly forgotten principles of a believer’s life is what our battle is against.  It’s easy to get your focus on people because of the fact that people are the avenue through which both darkness and light are allowed to be carried out.  You must, as hard as it is, remember that your fight is not against people, your fight is against darkness.  Anywhere that evil exists a sign that there is an absence of light.  Your job is not to call out everyone or everything that is an agent of the darkness, your job is to be a carrier of the Light.  Believers need to stop being so vocal about who or what they’re against and start promoting the Light.  Darkness cannot exist in the presence of Light but if no one is willing to be a carrier of the Light, then the darkness will remain.  So the next time that co-worker, rebellious child, in-law, or rude person in the grocery store begins operate from their darkened mindset you have a choice on how you will respond.  You can bring the Light on the scene or you can choose to fight in the dark.  One will allow Jesus to have His way in that person’s heart and one will push them further away.  Darkness can not overcome the Light so the battle is already won…which one will you walk in? – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
