Funeral services for Jossie Virginia “Ginger” Hammons Cooksey, age 85, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shane Carrington officiating.  Interment will follow at Reilly Springs Cemetery with Hunter Cooksey, Jonathan Cooksey, Zack Pruitt, Marlin Jones,
Johnny Gibson, and Kenny Joe Wallace serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at West Oaks Funeral Home. Ginger passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Hopkins House. Ginger was born on December 20, 1933 in Goree, TX, the daughter of James Ruby Hammons and Nettie Margaret Wright Hammons.  She married Ward M. Cooksey on August 11, 1962 in Knox City, TX.  He preceded her in death. Ginger was a teacher for 27 years.  She was also a member of the Southside Church of Christ. Ginger is survived by her sons, Scotty Cooksey and wife Cindy of Provo, Utah, Danny Cooksey and wife Karen of Sulphur Springs, sister, Ruby Howell, grandchildren, Stephanie Pruitt and husband Zack of Wolfforth, Paige Cooksey of Sulphur Springs, Hunter Cooksey and wife Danielle of Sulphur Springs, and Jonathan Cooksey and wife Hope of New Boston, great-grandchildren, Brik, Axel, and Crew Pruitt, and Aspyn, Gracie, and Case Cooksey. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Johnny Leo Hammons, James E. Hammons, sister, Florene Norian.
