Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Couple for Money Laundering After Discovering $229,000 in Cash During Traffic Stop

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office discovered $229,000 in cash hidden in an aftermarket compartment during a traffic stop on Tuesday. The aftermarket compartment was discovered during a search of the vehicle and the vehicle was transported to Hopkins County Jail. Once arriving, the electronic compartment was accessed through the center console. Within the compartment which ran the entire length of the vehicle were five large vacuum sealed bags of United States currency.

Tatiana S. Capello, 29,  and Guido Enrique Capello, 23, of Pasadena, Texas were both arrested and charged with Money Laundering more than $150,000 but less than $300,000.
