2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
Since the day of Jesus ascension into Heaven, people have speculated and theorized about when He would return. They look at that ‘signs of the times’ or just see how bad society has become and assume that Jesus can’t hold out much longer. Some even feel like the tribulation may already be taking place. While it is important to watch and pray as Jesus instructed, the key to His returning is actually not how bad things get but how quickly the Church reaches the lost. Too many believers sit back and whine and gripe about the immorality they see all around, practically begging Jesus to rescue them from this horrible condition known as Earth. If those same people would put that same amount of effort into reaching their families, co-workers, and neighbors Jesus would be able to come back sooner. According to today’s text, He will return as soon as everyone has had the opportunity to receive Him. Think about it like this, the last person waiting to hear the Gospel message may within arms reach of you! So you actually have a role to play in determining how quickly Jesus returns. One thing is certain, every day that passes brings His return one day closer. It’s time the Church stopped wondering and complaining about what they can’t control and take responsibility for what they can. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
