Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
When the subject of tithing comes up many people will, for various reasons, tell you that it’s obsolete and no longer a necessary practice for believers to participate in. If you fall into this line of thinking, here are a few things to consider. Tithing was never meant to be a method by which God ‘funded’ His work on the Earth. Tithing has always been an act of worship and honor that started with Abraham, continued with his grandson Jacob, and was made a common practice by the Israelite nation. It is mentioned before the Law of Moses, as a part of the Law, by Jesus in the Gospels, and also in Hebrews as an act of worship to your Heavenly High Priest. Tithing is a foundational element of obedience and is the avenue that enables the Lord to pour His blessing, grace, and protection out upon your life. It’s not something you do in order to receive salvation. When you’re born again, you receive that free gift which was 100% paid for by Jesus Himself. Your tithe simply opens the door to God’s grace and allows you to experience that salvation in full measure. Your obedience will always brings about His blessing. God’s heart has always been about getting His blessings to you, not trying to take something from you. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
