2 Corinthians 10: 5
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
Once you’ve taken back ground and transformed your life from the enemies lies, you must put measures in place to protect that territory. The enemy will relentlessly try to sneak back in and establish more lies in an effort to put you back into captivity. The best defense against the counter attack, which always takes place in your mind, is to take every thought that comes captive. In other words, nothing comes in without being filtered through what the Word says. If a certain thought doesn’t line up then you simply refuse to entertain it. Just laugh and say to yourself, “Nice try, but you don’t belong here.” Granted, at first this will take some intentionality and getting used to but it will quickly become a default mode that you’ve trained yourself in. The more familiar you become with the Word and His voice, the more difficult it will be for the devil to slip lies past you. You have taken back territory that he once held so you must do what it takes to keep it occupied. Any outside opinions or thoughts that aren’t Kingdom minded must be kept from infiltrating your defenses. Kenneth E. Hagin once said, “You can’t keep the birds from flying over you, but you can keep them from building a nest in your hair!” Wrong thoughts and ideas will come, but you don’t have to let them stay.
