FrontPorchNewsTexas.com has learned that CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs has suspended admitting privileges for Dr. Somjai Trisarnsri. Dr. Tris, as he’s commonly known in Sulphur Springs, was informed of the suspension Wednesday morning in a meeting with hospital administration. He has been serving Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County residents since 1980.

Dr. Tris will still be seeing patients at his office. However, he will not be able to deliver babies or perform operations at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs due to this decision.

Dr. Tris’ office provided the following statement to us, “We are actively working as hard as we can to make sure that everyone’s continuity of care continues. We are assisting our patients in their care anywhere and with anyone they choose. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please contact our office and we will be happy to address them.”

Dr. Tris’ office has been overwhelmed with calls recently due to social media rumors. Several pregnant patients near their due date have expressed anxiety and frustration with the stress that CHRISTUS’ decision has caused them. One of his patients near her due date told Front Porch News Texas, “I’m so heartbroken over it all. I had to switch doctors when I first got pregnant over insurance reasons and I was so comfortable and happy with Dr. Tris. He’s such a sweet, genuine and caring man.  I’m so stressed over a doctor now and having to drive an hour to the hospital in Greenville for delivery.”

Others that we’ve spoken with have expressed shock due to the fact Dr. Tris recently delivered his 13,000th baby and was honored with a reception in the CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs Prenatal department a month ago on July 24th.

CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs did not provide a reason for this action when reached for comment. Paul Harvey, CEO/President of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs, provided the following statement to FrontPorchNewsTexas.com, “It is our policy not to discuss any specifics on these type of matters during our on going review process. We continue to provide uninterrupted services both in clinic and hospital for women health services and deliveries.”
