Texas Democratic congressional candidate MJ Hegar has quickly risen in popularity after the release of her “Doors” video ad. The video has already been viewed over 2 million times on YouTube.
Hegar is running against U.S. Rep. John Carter, Republican, in a conservative Texas district. They are competing for Texas’s 31st District seat.
Hegar is an Air Force veteran, politician, and author. On her third tour to Afghanistan on July 29, 2009, she was shot down on a Medevac mission and sustained wounds, resulting in her being awarded the Purple Heart. Her actions on this mission earned her the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor Device.
