Chip and Joanna Gaines Fined by EPA for Lead Paint Violations

“Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines have been fined by the Environmental Protection Agency. They are accused of violating regulations regarding lead-based paint at 33 properties.
Under the terms of the settlement, their company Magnolia Homes, will take steps to ensure compliance with lead-based paint regulations in future renovation projects, address lead-based paint hazards at high-risk homes in Waco, Texas, and educate the public to lead-based paint hazards and appropriate renovation procedures.
Magnolia will pay a civil penalty of $40,000. They have also offered to spend $160,000 to abate lead-based paint hazards in homes and child-occupied facilities in Waco, Texas. As part of the of the settlement Chip will also create a video about the dangers of lead based paint.
