Two Hopkins County Women Charged with Cruelty to Animals

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested two local women after receiving complaints about neglected animals on County Road 4708. A large amount of animals living in inhumane conditions were observed by officers and a search warrant was obtained and executed yesterday. Elizabeth Ann Karst, 29, and Deborah Ann Troutt, 62, have been arrested and charged with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals. Both are currently held at Hopkins County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Over 50 dogs were taken from the house and other buildings on the property. A large number of puppy litters, dogs, and tissue were discovered in freezers. There were also other neglected animals found on the property.
