Graveside services for Harold Gene Deaton, age 84, of Dike, Texas will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 6, 2018 with Mike Eason officiating and Jonah Massey, Jonas Helm, Trent Miller, Chad Jones, Ryan Glenn and David Rogers serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bob Cody, Kenny Crowson, Joe Elmore, Allen Elmore, Ronny Glossup, Wayne Parker and Claude Davison. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Deaton passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at his residence.
Harold was born on March 6, 1934, in Sulphur Bluff, TX the son of Allen and Myrtle Chapman Deaton. He married Moverine Neal on November 11, 1961 in Garland Texas. Harold was of the Baptist Faith. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. Harold was happiest when he was on his favorite horses, working cattle with his cowboy friends and dutch oven cooking.
He is survived by his wife, Moverine of 57 years; daughters, Melinda Deaton, of Dike, TX and Amy Lowrie of Malakoff, TX; grandson, Payton Lowrieof Malakoff, TX;a special granddaughter, Laura Jones and family of Dike. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill Deaton and wife, Greta, Larry Don Deaton and wife, Judy; sister, JoRuth Hodge and husband, Bill all of Sulphur Springs. A special friend, Joe Elmore of Dike and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Earl and a sister, Dora Ann Deaton.
The family would like to thank the staff of the I.C.U. Unit at the hospital and Legacy Hospice Staff.
