I went to grab something out of my car Saturday morning and I saw a cop down at Dave Kirpatrick’s house. All I could think was “Oh no, what did Dave do this time?” But it turns out they were just checking to make sure Dave’s cars weren’t burglarized in the recent string of vehicle burglaries in Sulphur Springs. Then I had another neighbor tell me later that day that the police officer had also checked with him and that the officer had been going door to door to check on cars in our neighborhood. I thought that this was a great example of community policing and I want to make sure these efforts by SSPD are recognized.

SSPD says that most of the cars that have been stolen from have been left unlocked. They’re encouraging the community to make sure their vehicles are locked at night until they locate the suspects.
