Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department Discovers Over $180,000 in Drug Money During Traffic Stop

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department officers discovered over $180,000 during a traffic stop of an Ohio man and woman on January 23rd. A traffic stop was initiated and a syringe containing a brown liquid was observed within plain sight. The male subject in the vehicle admitted there was cocaine, heroine, and fentanyl in the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and found bags containing all three drugs. Officers also discovered a large duffel bag in the spare tire compartment. Within the bag were four large bundles wrapped in foil tape and vacuum sealed in plastic bags. It was discovered the four bundle contained cash totaling approximately $180,247. Elias Moreno, 45 years old, of Toledo, Ohio was arrested and charged with money laundering and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Jerrica Papenfuse, 29 years old, of Toledo, Ohio was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
