October was a very busy month for North Hopkins FFA!  Leadership Development Events (LDE’s) were coming up. Stock shows are coming and meetings are to be held.

The North Hopkins FFA had several teams competing at the district level.  Before this the chapter participated in a few invitational meets for practice before district.  The chapter brought home several awards from these invitational meets such as second in Greenhand Chapter conducting and first in Senior Skills.District competition went well with almost all North Hopkins teams advancing to area competition.  The chapter placed high in all events and received several plaques to be displayed in the Ag shop.

Invitational stock shows are also beginning.  North Hopkins had a few students attend the State Fair of Texas and compete with their animals.  Whyatt Wharton won reserve grand Champion with his lamb.  Our chapter vice president Faith Wheeler competed with her prepared speech in the Ag Business speaking competition.  She won reserve grand champion as well.  It was a successful day at the fair.

The chapter also held it’s annual October chapter meeting.  This year the officers held a costume contest for all FFA members and conducted a small business meeting.  It was a good meeting with a decent turnout.

Overall, it was a productive month for the chapter.  November will hold more for North Hopkins as we compete in Area LDE’s on the 15th and we prepare for the holiday season.
