Fruitvale wins in 5 sets Fruitvale 25-23, Fruitvale 25-16, Sulphur Bluff 25-23, Sulphur Bluff 27-25, Fruitvale 15-6
We struggled early in sets 1 and 2 and our mistakes allowed Fruitvale to take a 2-0 lead. Set 3 we battled back from 9 down to take the set. Dalena Di Donato, Kaylon Hume, and Diana Rosas had some big serves that allowed us to stay in the game in sets 3 and 4. Freshman Alley Collett provided great sets throughout the night that put Ann and Makenna in position to have success hitting the ball.
Defensively Ann Dorner and Kaylon Hume had a great night. They have been our most consistent players all year on the back row.
Offensively Makenna Morgan had 9 kills. When she is on and hitting the ball well our team has a lot of success. Dalena Di Donato stepped up big time and played one heck of a game. She was 10 for 11 with 3 aces in her serve attempts.
One of the words that we talk about with our program on a daily basis is what it means to “compete.” These girls exemplified what it means and fought until the very end. As coaches, Coach Z and I could not as for more.
